The referendum in our country is used to apply for a presence in politics. For people who are now turning on their television sets, we remind you that its value is "for information" and does not oblige the political structure in any way.
Radev needed to somehow throw twigs into the expectations of his fans that he has serious and firm intentions to remain in politics after the end of his second term with his own political project. And it is already obvious that this will happen.
Things were developing in his favor with the growing disgust for what we witness every day. And if he had squeezed a little more, he would have enjoyed a better starting position. But he blinked first. And he brought the most sensitive topic of the day to the table, along with scooters, religious doctrine and "locals" - the eurozone.
The feeling remains that this was too much for him and will not bring him added value. It will certainly appeal to many, but at the same time it will shrink and concentrate the spectrum of his fans in the current familiar circle of Euroscepticism, instead of spreading the fan. When things are going well, you don't make changes - a golden rule. Especially with a people who have proven to be wary of such things and look down on them.
So after he enters a ridiculous explanatory mode for the plight of our only American fighter, he will also have to explain his Putinism. Because here it is - there is no way, if you are against the euro, and the call for a referendum can only mean that you are not at the Kremlin's feeder.
And this will be the topic until the end of his mandate, which may turn out to have an unclear horizon, because an impeachment initiative will inevitably be taken - it is clear by whom. However, Radev's removal from office could work in his favor. There would no longer be any obstacle to announcing the party so eagerly awaited by many, and his admirers would have the opportunity to take revenge on the hated status quo that brought down a politician with the highest ratings.
Radev was the first to blink, unprovoked, but that doesn't mean he shot himself dead. He simply placed himself in the chalk circle of the current parliamentary opposition, which will not like this - especially at a later stage.
