Romanian legend Dan Petrescu confirmed that he received an offer to become the head coach of CSKA, sportal.bg reported.
The former Chelsea defender was an option for the new coach of the “Reds” after the dismissal of Dusan Kerkez, but he refused the invitation, and in an interview with “Gazeta Sporturilor” he revealed the reasons.
“I have already refused five teams from Bulgaria, Poland, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Russia. Yesterday, one of the big clubs in Kazakhstan contacted me. I told everyone “no” right from the start. Even if they offer me 10 million euros, at this stage I don't want to go anywhere. I will think again in the summer. "Now I want to rest physically and mentally," Petrescu said.
The 57-year-old was last in charge of CFR Cluj, but left the post in August after a shocking 2-7 defeat to Sweden's Häcken in the Conference League qualifiers. Petrescu is also battling health problems, which he did not disclose details about, but hopes to recover soon and resume his career.
"I follow certain procedures, work out in the gym and walk every day. I live in Cluj, where I have many friends. I do what I have not done in my entire life: I rest," Petrescu said.
