The President of the Bulgarian Shooting Confederation Vessela Lecheva was elected vice-president of the European Shooting Confederation. This happened during the General Assembly of the confederation, which is being held in Yerevan, Armenia, BTA reports.

Lecheva, a two-time Olympic medalist, five-time world and eight-time European champion, as well as the number 1 shooter of the century in the world federation ranking, received the votes of the delegates for a four-year term. 13 more candidates were fighting for the position. Alexander Ratner, who already has one term behind him, was re-elected as president. Vessela Lecheva is the first Bulgarian to hold such a high position in the international structures of sports shooting.

"For me, this is a new great responsibility, as well as an undeniable recognition. I am glad that Bulgarian shooting sports have received their deserved place in international structures. From the position of vice president, I will work even more dedicatedly for the development of my favorite sport," commented Lecheva, who was also elected as the president of the BOC on March 19.

During the two-day General Assembly, a management program was presented to 110 representatives of the European federations, and today the election of a new leadership of European Shooting took place. The management priorities are related to a model that combines sports development, financial sustainability and transparent management, as well as greater support for event organizers, investments in young and elite athletes, technical and educational assistance for national federations.
