The Olympic champions from Milan-Cortina 2026 Laurence Fournier-Baudry and Guillaume Cizeron triumphed with the gold medals in the dance pairs at the World Figure Skating Championships in Prague. This is their first world title as a duet, BTA reports.

The French pair performed an extremely strong free program, for which they received 138.07 points and finished with a total of 230.81. They thus surpassed Canadians Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, who finished second with 211.52 points, as well as Americans Emilea Zingas and Vadim Kolesnik, who finished third with 209.20.

With this success, Fournier-Baudry and Cizeron completed an impressive season in which they won the European, Olympic and world titles, although they only began working together in March 2025. For Fournier-Baudry, this is the first gold medal at a world championship, while Cizeron already has a total of six titles, four of which with his former partner Gabriela Papadakis.

The French were also close to improving the world record in the free program (138.41 points), which belongs to Americans Madison Chock and Evan Bates, achieving their result in only their sixth joint participation.

For Canadians Gilles and Poirier, this is the third consecutive silver medal at a world championship, as they have a long-standing partnership with many awards. In the absence of Chock and Bates, who missed the championship, Zingas and Kolesnik managed to bring bronze to the USA in their debut at such a forum, continuing the country's series of world championship medals.
