Alpine skiers Mikaela Shifrin and Alexander Aamod Kilde have officially announced their engagement. Shiffrin, a two-time Olympic champion who won a record 97 World Cup races, showed off her ring in photos posted on social media, BTA reports.
Aamod Kilde is a former Grand Crystal Globe winner and two-time Olympic medalist. The 31-year-old Norwegian's season ended back in January when he suffered injuries in a fall during a downhill in Wengen, Switzerland.
The American woman and the Norwegian man have been a couple for several years. Shiffrin, 29, ended the season three weeks ago with her record 60th slalom victory and 97th overall in World Cup finals.
Mikaela Shiffrin was sidelined for six weeks with a knee injury sustained in a downhill fall in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, in January.
