Bayern Munich forward Serge Gnabry is looking forward to the meeting with his former Arsenal teammate Mikel Arteta, who is now the coach of the "gunners", BTA reported.

The two teams meet in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and the first leg in London is tomorrow night.

Gnabry played alongside the current manager of the "gunners" Arteta under Arsene Wenger after joining the north London club in 2012 at the age of 16.

The German international, who is preparing to return to the stadium "Emirates" for Tuesday night's Champions League quarter-final first leg, has fond memories of receiving valuable advice from Arteta.

"Now he is completely absorbed in his role as a coach and thinks very strategically,” Gnabry told Bayern's website about Arteta.

"In my time he was already an experienced player. He was a captain, a leader who talked to everyone and communicated a lot. He was very helpful to us as young players back then. He built us up, he always gave us good advice, he always tried to guide us so that we stay focused and do our best," Gnabry said.

The striker is convinced that Arsenal have all the qualities to win the battle for the title in England.

"Arsenal have what it takes to be back on top. The team radiates strength. They are great in their own stadium with their fans behind them. It will be a tough task with two strong teams facing each other. It's a win or die game. – we are usually particularly strong there. Reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League will give us a huge boost. This is our big goal. "I'm happy to be back in London after eight years," Gnabry also said.

He had a disappointing spell at Arsenal, making just 10 Premier League appearances and an unsuccessful loan spell with West Bromwich Albion before returning to his homeland with Werder Bremen in 2016. The 28-year-old, who a year after -lately moved to Bayern, doesn't regret the bold choice he made as a teenager.

"That time had a huge impact on me. Daring to leave my familiar surroundings at 16 was a huge step, both on a personal and football level. To play for a club like Arsenal was a great privilege at the time. Of course there were ups and downs, but I enjoyed my time there and met a lot of fantastic people. In the end, it was the right decision," Gnabry said.
