The leader in the world ranking Novak Djokovic recorded a new achievement in his rich career, becoming the oldest number 1 in tennis, BTA reported.

Djokovic did so at the age of 36 years and 321 days on Sunday, making him a day older than his former long-time rival Roger Federer. The Swiss was last at the top of the ranking in June 2018. Federer ended his career in 2022.

The oldest leader in the women's rankings is Serena Williams when she was 35.

Novak Djokovic's total of 420 weeks at the top since his debut in 2011 is also a record, as is the eight times he has finished the year as No. 1 in tennis.

The Serbian also heads the current ATP rankings, where he holds the first position ahead of the Australian Open champion, who is second.

Djokovic's other records include most men's Grand Slam titles - 24, most Masters trophies; - 40 and most ATP Finals titles - 7. He has a total of 98 titles in his career.

Novak Djokovic is currently awaiting his first match at the Monte Carlo tournament, which he has won twice in the past. The Serbian tennis player is still without a trophy in 2024, losing in the semi-finals in Australia and in the third round of the tournament in Indian Wells.
