Swede Armand Duplantis broke his personal world record in pole vault during the Diamond League tournament in Stockholm, BTA reports. His compatriot Andreas Almgren set the best time on the continent in the 5000 meters.
Duplantis cleared 6 meters on his third attempt, which was enough for victory after Australian Curtis Marshall failed at the same height. However, he submitted another bid of 6.28 meters and surpassed them on the first of three attempts for the world record. It was Duplantis' 12th world record, having clocked 6.27 in Clermont in February.
The Swedish crowd was on its feet again minutes later as Andreas Almgren set a European record in the men's 5,000m with a time of 12:44.27. He beat Mohamed Kathir's record by more than half a second to win ahead of Ethiopia's Kuma Girma and Olympic 1,500m champion Cole Hawker of Australia.
Olympic 100m champion Julienne Alfred won the event in Stockholm, her second victory in four days. She finished in 10.75 seconds, 18 hundredths of a second ahead of Britain's Dina Asher-Smith.
Rainier Mena set a personal best of the season in the men's 200m sprint, while Femke Boll claimed her 27th victory in the event, taking first place in the women's 400m hurdles.
The big surprise came in the women's high jump, where Olympic champion Yaroslava Maguchych failed to win for the first time this season. The Ukrainian made two unsuccessful attempts at 2.01m and raised it to 2.03m for the last. She failed again, allowing Australia's Nicola Olislegers to claim her first victory with 2.01m. Maguchich finished second with 1.99 meters, while Maria Zodzik finished third with 1.93.
Another Australian was first in the 3000 meters. Lyndon Hall clocked 8:30.01 in the women's event, winning only her second Diamond League victory by 1.26 seconds ahead of Sarah Chelangat of Uganda. Ines Fitzgerald of Great Britain was third, finishing in 8:32.90.
Lyndon Hall won her first Diamond League victory three years ago, again in Stockholm, but in the 1500 meters.
Kenyan Emmanuel Wanyonyi clocked a season-best time of 1:41.95 in the men's 800 meters. Jamel Sedjati of Algeria was second, and Josh Howie of the United States was third. Grace Stark set a Stockholm record in the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 12.33 seconds, winning by 0.04 ahead of Akira Nugent of Jamaica. Dutchwoman Nadine Visser finished third.
After winning in Oslo on Thursday, American Isabella Whittaker recorded her second victory in the women's 400m. She attacked late and finished in 49.78 seconds, with Norway's Harriet Jaeger second in 50.07. Britain's Amber Anning was third in 50.17 seconds.
Olympic champion Tara Davis-Woodhall of the United States won the women's long jump after a Stockholm record attempt of 7.05 meters at the start of the event. Larissa Iapicchino of Italy was second with 6.90 meters, and Jasmine Moore of the United States finished third with 6.76.
