Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe was not included in the squad for the final Club World Cup group stage match against Salzburg, BTA reported.
On June 19, the Frenchman was hospitalized with an intestinal infection. The 26-year-old striker was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis. He was discharged from a hospital in Miami the same day. It was later reported that Mbappe had lost up to 5 kg due to the infection.
Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso explained that he preferred the player to fully recover and be ready for the round of 16.
“We are happy to see him in training, but we preferred him to be ready for the round of 16”, said Alonso.
The match between Salzburg and Real Madrid will take place on Friday, June 27.
