German champion Bayern Munich will have the opportunity to show early on whether it will dominate the Bundesliga again, after being given two consecutive home games against Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund in today's draw for the new championship, BTA reported.
The German Football League (GFL) published the program today, with the Bavarians starting the season as dames on August 22 (Friday) at 9:30 p.m. Bulgarian time against RB Leipzig.
The vice-champions from Leverkusen begin their era after the departure of coach Xabi Alonso and their young star Florian Wirtz against Hoffenheim, while Borussia Dortmund is visiting Hamburg of St. Pauli.
One more round will be played by the end of August, and after the break for the national teams, the big derbies are coming up. In the 7th round on October 19th, Bayern hosts Borussia (Dortmund), and two weeks later in the 9th round they will also welcome Bayer (Leverkusen). Belgian coach Vincent Kompany's team also ends the season at home against the returning Cologne on May 16, after finishing the last two campaigns at Hoffenheim.
Borussia (Dortmund) also ends the championship as a guest, but at Werder (Bremen), and Bayer (Leverkusen) is at home against the glorious team of Hamburger SV that has returned to the elite.
Newcomers Cologne and Hamburger SV start the new championship as guests, respectively in Mainz and against Borussia (Mönchengladbach). In the 2nd round, Hamburger SV has a city derby with St. Pauli, and in the 3rd they are away to Bayern.
The first derby of the Ruhr area between Borussia (Mönchengladbach) and Cologne is in the 10th round in early November. Bayern restart after the winter break against Wolfsburg on January 9-11. Borussia Dortmund will play in Frankfurt on the same weekend.
The remaining matches of the first round are: Eintracht Frankfurt - Werder, Freiburg - Augsburg, Mainz - Cologne, Union Berlin - Stuttgart, Heidenheim - Wolfsburg.
In the Second Bundesliga, Elfersberg with Bulgarian winger Lukas Petkov starts at home to Nuremberg, while Fabian Nuremberg and Darmstadt host relegated Bochum. The opening matches in the Second Bundesliga will be played on the weekend of August 2/3.
