Ter Stegen explained his future to Barcelona fans - 1

Barcelona's German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen published an emotional letter to the Catalans' fans on his social networks, sportal.bg reported.

As is known, the 33-year-old goalkeeper and team captain is currently in disgrace, with the club looking for a way to part with him.

In his address, Ter Stegen announced that he would undergo surgery due to his back pain and that he would not leave Barcelona at this stage. This means that the German will be out of action, and he himself specifies how long he will be out - around 3 months.

Ter Stegen's full letter:

"Dear Kules,

I wear the colors and shirt of Barcelona with great pride, whether on or off the pitch, in moments of success or in difficult times. Today is a difficult day for me personally.

Physically and athletically, I feel in very good shape, although unfortunately I am not free from pain. After intensive discussions with the Barcelona medical team and external experts, the fastest and safest way for my full recovery is back surgery.

After my last back surgery, I returned to the pitch after 66 days - almost two months; this time the doctors think it will take about three months as a precautionary measure to avoid any risks.

It hurts me a lot emotionally that I can't support the team during this time. Fortunately, the rehabilitation is surmountable and the path to return is clear.

I will keep you updated on my recovery and I sincerely want to thank all of you, dear Cooleys, for always being there for me.

Don't worry - I will be back!

Yours,

Marc".

The upcoming surgery means that Ter Stegen is certain to remain at Barcelona until at least the winter transfer window, which thwarts the club's plans to part with him now. On the other hand, his absence and the fact that he will not be registered for La Liga will probably make it easier for the Catalans in the transfer market, as the German has one of the highest salaries at the club.
