In my book about Boyko Borisov, there is only one chapter about Sretan Yosich, and another is dedicated to the gangster thinking of Borisov and his close associates - like the fringes, like Alexei Petrov, who even held an important state position in DANS. These are people from the circles of the SIC and VIS. Some said goodbye to their lives. This was stated by journalist Ivan Bakalov in the “FACT“ studio to Lili Marinkova in the program “Conversation“.
“Looking at the reactions on social networks today, I have the feeling that people are just now learning what murders there have been in Bulgaria. Some seem to be surprised now. Murders like from “The Godfather“ – for example, that of Bai Mile, a man from the SIC, shot in a restaurant along with five of his entourage. Two are seriously injured, six - killed. People with machine guns enter and shoot. This is not a scene from a movie. This is reality. And this is the connection with Borisov, who at that time was the chief secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. During this period, about 30 significant murders were committed. They were even noted in foreign publications“, Bakalov added.
“There were telegrams from American ambassadors about Borisov - about money laundering through a bank connected to his close friend, about participation in drug trafficking, about closeness to gangster circles like the SIC. In an American magazine at that time, a critical article was published, including one directed at President Bush, in which Boyko Borisov's exploits were listed. An analysis by a Swiss bank studying the investment climate in Bulgaria has also appeared - a voluminous report describing the picture of the criminal world in our country. It mentions the 30 murders in question. A general secretary, in whose case nothing has been revealed. Is it possible for murders with a machine gun on the street or in a restaurant, in broad daylight, to remain unsolved? These crimes bear the signature of people with capabilities that ordinary crime does not have. There are no snipers in Bulgaria who can shoot from 800 meters or a kilometer. Murders with machine guns in broad daylight - this is Arkan's signature,“ the journalist also said.
According to him, Arkan is a Serbian mafia boss with a paramilitary organization, who committed robberies in several Western European countries, was wanted for a long time and was finally killed. “His wife was the singer Tsetsa Velichkovich, who was later accepted by Boyko Borisov in his capacity as mayor. There are photos of Arkan from his wedding,“ added Bakalov.
“Sretan Josic said before the court in Belgrade: “My people in Bulgaria were Boyko Borisov – then a security guard, then the chief secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the businessman Nikolay Gigov, together with their services.“ This is not an empty story. In the late 90s, the services made people from the criminal world their collaborators in order to obtain information. In parallel, however, these people continued to commit crimes without the police catching them. Many of them could be in prison and still be alive today – there were enough formal grounds: shootouts in restaurants, illegal weapons, heavy sentences. However, this did not happen. Josic was convicted only for what could be proven. His words are: “If you kill five people – you are a murderer. If you kill 25 – you become an institution.“ Sretan Josic was exactly such an institution on an international scale – a big gangster. And the handwriting of some murders in our country cannot be considered without a connection to him“, said Ivan Bakalov.
