Today, at the invitation of Denmark, which holds the rotating presidency of the Council of the EU, the 6th intergovernmental conference between Albania and the EU will be held in Brussels, during which the Balkan country will open four new chapters of its accession negotiations to the European Union, ATA reports, quoted by BTA.
The meeting, which will be chaired by Danish Minister for European Affairs Marie Bier and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, will serve to open negotiations with Albania on Cluster 4: “Green Agenda and Sustainable Connectivity“, which includes chapters: 14 (Transport Policy), 15 (Energy), 21 (Trans-European Networks) and 27 (Environment and Climate Change).
Albania applied for EU membership in April 2009 and was granted EU candidate country status in June 2014. The EU held its first intergovernmental conference with Albania in July 2022. In May, Rama stated that his country aims to conclude EU accession negotiations by the end of 2027.
