Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that since the beginning of September, Russia has sent over 3,500 drones, nearly 190 missiles and over 2,500 aerial bombs against Ukraine, Ukrinform reports, quoted by BTA.
“There were also provocations against our partners. This is the air terror against which Ukraine calls for joint defense – so that no one has to urgently raise fighter jets and feel Russia's pressure on its borders,“ Zelensky said. He stressed the need for a multi-layered air defense system for European airspace, which already has the necessary technology, but requires investment and determination.
Zelensky noted that multiple regions of Ukraine had been attacked overnight. In Zaporizhia, fires were extinguished after Russian artillery shelling injured 13 people, including two children. In Mykolaiv, one person died when a farm was hit. Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Donetsk and Kherson were also hit - over 100 drones and 150 glide bombs overnight alone.
Ukrainian air defense forces managed to destroy 89 of the 113 drones used by Russia in the latest large-scale attack. Zelensky thanked partners for their help and called for strong actions and decisions to defend the country.
