Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa told reporters last night that ongoing negotiations with Israel to reach a security agreement may yield results "in the coming days", Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
He called the agreement "a necessity" and stressed that it must include non-violation of Syrian airspace and territorial integrity, and its observance must be monitored by the UN.
If a security agreement is reached, "other agreements" can be concluded, but normalization of bilateral relations is not yet under discussion, Ash Sharaa stressed.
He added that Washington, which has the role of mediator in the negotiations, has not put pressure on Damascus to conclude an agreement with Israel.
