Two independent laboratories have confirmed that Alexei Navalny was poisoned, says his widow Yulia. She insists that the results be made public.
Western laboratories, which, based on analyzes, have obtained evidence that Alexei Navalny died in a Russian colony from poisoning, must make them public. This appeal was made in Telegram by the widow of the oppositionist Yulia Navalnaya.
"In February 2024, we managed to receive, send abroad and transfer to a laboratory in one of the Western countries biological material from Alexei. "A few months ago I learned that the results were received and two laboratories have already independently concluded that Alexei was poisoned," wrote Navalnaya, who after her husband's death announced that she intended to continue his case.
The role of "political considerations"
According to Navalnaya, "Western countries have no legal grounds to initiate and conduct a criminal case", since this is about the murder of a Russian citizen on Russian territory and all the evidence for this is located on Russian territory.
Due to "political considerations" and other reasons, the oppositionist's relatives and supporters cannot obtain the official results, which state exactly what poison Navalny was killed with, says his widow. "But we all deserve to know this truth. "I demand that the results of the research on what exactly my husband was poisoned with be revealed. I demand this for myself, for our children, for Alexei's parents, for our supporters in Russia and for all people around the world who are fighting for freedom and justice," she stressed.
The Kremlin "knows nothing" and "has nothing to say"
Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing that he knew nothing about Yulia Navalnaya's statements regarding her husband's biomaterial research in Western laboratories.
"I know nothing about these statements and I can't say anything", said Peskov, who added: "The results of the tests cannot affect the political situation at all".
The poisoning and death of Alexei Navalny in Russia
In August 2020, Alexei Navalny lost consciousness during a flight from Tomsk to Moscow, and the plane made an emergency landing in Omsk for first aid. A few days later, the oppositionist was sent for treatment and rehabilitation to the Berlin Charite clinic.
After toxicological analysis of the samples taken from Navalny, experts from the special laboratory of the German armed forces found traces of a nerve agent of the Novichok type in them. Laboratories in Sweden and France, as well as experts from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, independently came to the same conclusion.
In January 2021, Navalny returned to Russia, where he was detained, convicted and subjected to torture by the authorities, according to media reports and his supporters. On February 16, 2024, the politician, considered the main political rival of Russian President Putin, died in the colony in Siberia, where he was serving a long sentence.
