Vladimir Barbin, the Russian ambassador to Denmark, told the Izvestia newspaper that the island of Bornholm is being used by Copenhagen to create threats to the security of Russia, in particular the Kaliningrad region, Focus reports.
Barbin notes that Denmark has permanently stationed Danish military personnel and a mobile anti-ship complex on the island.
„Bornholm has remained an island of peace for many years and even during the Cold War was not a place for military training, contributing to stability in the Baltic Sea region. "Today, however, the island is being used by Denmark to create threats to the security of Russia, including the Kaliningrad region," the diplomat said.
He stressed that Denmark's activity in Russia does not go unnoticed and is closely monitored by the Russian authorities.
