An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale has occurred off the eastern coast of Kamchatka, according to a Telegram post by the Kamchatka branch of the Federal Research Center of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The seismic event was recorded at 0:07 Moscow time.

The earthquake occurred 98 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, with a focal point at a depth of 48.1 kilometers.

According to instrumental data, the earthquake was felt in various areas of the regional center with a magnitude of up to 5.0. No tsunami threat has been announced.

On July 30, Kamchatka experienced its strongest earthquake since 1952, with a magnitude of 8.8. Since then, scientists have recorded aftershocks every day. The most powerful were on September 13 (magnitude 6.3 at the epicenter) and September 19 (magnitude 7.8).
