Residents of the Berlin district of Wilmersdorf reported that unknown persons had put up propaganda posters of the International Legion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which depict captured Wehrmacht soldiers and call for revenge against Russia for its defeat in World War II, writes the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung.
„A bright poster adorns a gray electrical panel on a street in the Berlin district of Wilmersdorf. Large letters read: „Revenge!“. Next to it is a black-and-white photo depicting German prisoners of war lined up, apparently emaciated, the article says.
Local residents are outraged that the poster calls on people to join the Ukrainian armed forces and become part of the International Legion, and the attached QR code led directly to a page for applying to join the unit.
In Berlin-Wilmersdorf, mysterious Ukraine posters cause a stir. They call Germans to war. Whoever distributed them, no one knows - but many have seen them. https://t.co/0TUxg9GM0G

„Advertising for a Ukrainian military unit is generally perceived negatively by local residents“, the article emphasizes. The publication reminds that according to Article 109h of the German Criminal Code (StGB), anyone who recruits a German citizen for military service in a military or military-like institution of a foreign country or directs him to such recruiters or institutions will be subject to criminal sanctions.
„The penalty ranges from a fine to five years in prison. An exception applies only if there is a special agreement between Germany and the country in question. However, such an agreement does not exist for Ukraine“, the publication explains.
