The Wall Street Journal has implicated Bulgaria, Boyko Borisov and Turkish Stream in its dispute with Donald Trump - 1

A The Wall Street Journal article based on a story by a fellow student of Donald Trump Jr. mentions rumors about GERB leader Boyko Borisov, who has "requested relief from sanctions under the US ''Magnitsky'' Act. As Borisov, according to the publication, he discussed opportunities for American investments in "Balkan (Turkish) Stream" and "Lukoil Neftokhim", while looking for ways to protect "his close associates".

In the article: "He mentions Trump Jr.'s name in the pursuit of deals worth billions of dollars. It's getting awkward," the American media outlet wrote:

"The president of the Democratic Republic of Congo recently met with a veteran U.S. diplomat at a villa on a hill overlooking Kinshasa to resolve an issue that has been troubling him. The Texas investor, Gentry Beach, regularly visits Central Africa, trying to buy mineral concessions as part of a campaign of "economic diplomacy" that he attributes to President Trump."

Beach has been touting his friendship with Donald Trump Jr., showing what senior Congolese officials describe as text messages with the U.S. president's eldest son and photos of them together."

"Is he speaking for the Trump administration?" This is what the American media is asking.

In the context of the article, the name of Bulgaria is also mentioned:

"The Bulgarian Trace"

"There is one place where the interests of Beach and Trump Jr. intersect - Bulgaria", the American media writes.

The local authorities want to attract an American investor for "Balkan Stream", a 300-kilometer section of the last major gas pipeline that still supplies Russian gas to Europe, as well as for the largest oil refinery in the country (Lukoil).

"Beach has been studying the deal for months and the possibility of obtaining a license from the US Treasury Department that would allow the processing of Russian oil at the refinery, the publication says. He suggests that this will bring significant profits when peace comes to Ukraine.

"People who have spoken to Beach about the Bulgarian assets say he has openly emphasized his ties to Trump Jr., sometimes giving the impression that they are working together. However, he leaves his interlocutors unclear about his real influence." This spring, Beach told some Bulgarian contacts that Trump Jr. would soon visit the capital, Sofia.

"Former Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, still the most powerful man in Bulgaria, sees an opportunity (in Trump Jr.'s visit): Promoting the gas pipeline and other Bulgarian assets that could secure him a meeting with the US president, whom he met in 2019. Among other things, Borisov is seeking relief from sanctions under the "Magnitsky Act" for some of his close allies," the publication states.

"Borisov joined Trump Jr. for lunch with executives from the crypto company Nexo, which Trump Jr. had invited. There, he mentioned the possibility of American investment in the gas pipeline, pulling out a paper card. According to those present, Borisov spoke with an interpreter," the article states.

"Trump Jr., the son of the US president, was puzzled by the talks about the gas pipeline and said he had no interest in it."

US President Donald Trump and the American newspaper have been in a heated dispute since last year's election campaign. In the latest escalation in the dispute, Trump filed a defamation lawsuit against the publisher and reporters of the media outlet. The case was prompted by material from a collection of letters given to Jeffrey Epstein for his 50th birthday in 2003, including a note with the name of the American president and a drawing of a naked woman.
