Dr. Bassem Naim, a senior Hamas official, thanked President Donald Trump in an interview with "Sky News" for his role in securing a ceasefire agreement between Israel and "Hamas", BNR reported.

However, he warned that former UK Prime Minister Sir Tony Blair would not be welcome in any position in Gaza.

Dr. Naim said the ceasefire would not have been possible without President Trump, but insisted that he must continue to put pressure on Israel to adhere to the agreement. He added that Hamas would be willing to step down for a Palestinian authority to govern post-war Gaza, but that they would remain "in place" and would not be disarmed.

Regarding Benjamin Netanyahu's suggestion that Israel could resume its offensive if Hamas did not give up its weapons, Dr. Naim said that the group would not disarm completely and that the weapons would only be handed over to the Palestinian state, with the fighters integrated into the Palestinian National Army.

On future governance, Bassem Naim criticized Tony Blair's plans to play any role in overseeing the future of Gaza, saying that Hamas and Palestinians are angered by his role in previous wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Spanish activist Reyes Rigo has reached a plea agreement with Israeli prosecutors and will be deported after paying a fine. She was formally accused of biting a Keziot prison guard during her detention.

According to Israeli prosecutors, Rigo, 50, refused to voluntarily enter her prison cell and bit a guard on the arm during a struggle with the guard. The prosecution described the incident as an attack on a public official and an attempt to damage government symbols.

Rigo's detention was extended in recent days by a local court decision. This has led to uncertainty about her situation while the police investigation is ongoing. The case has attracted international attention as she is the last Spanish national from the flotilla still being held in Israel.

The 48 activists who returned home earlier this week said they were beaten, dragged and tied up after being taken off the aid ships to Gaza.
