Jordanian King Abdullah II said that without a peace process that would lead to the creation of a Palestinian state, the Middle East is doomed, DPA reported, BTA reports.
In an interview with the BBC, broadcast last night, the monarch stressed that if this issue is not resolved, the conflict in the region could easily flare up again.
His statement came shortly before his departure for Egypt, where he is participating in a meeting with US President Donald Trump. A ceasefire in the Gaza Strip was announced during the forum.
However, the declaration signed in Sharm el-Sheikh does not contain specific steps for the next steps after the cessation of hostilities between “Hamas“ and Israel.
The document does not explicitly mention the creation of a Palestinian state, but only states that lasting peace in the region will be possible only if the security, dignity and basic human rights of Israelis and Palestinians are guaranteed.
