VMRO-DPMNE leads convincingly in 54 municipalities in the local elections in North Macedonia, the State Election Commission announced, BNR reported.
The VLEN coalition has a lead in 9, and the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia - in seven. The data is based on over 96% of ballots processed.
In Skopje, the ruling party's candidate Orce Georgievski has almost 40 percent support and will face a runoff in two weeks against the Levica candidate Amar Mecinovic, who has just over 13 percent.
The election commission is expected to announce official results of the vote tonight.
