British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in an interview with Bloomberg that the situation for Ukraine has improved since the US imposed sanctions on Russian oil companies.
„The situation has improved“, Starmer said.
The agency notes that Starmer spoke of an improvement in the situation for Ukraine after US President Donald Trump imposed sanctions on Russian oil companies.
Last week, the US Treasury Department included Rosneft, Lukoil and 34 subsidiaries of these companies in a new package of sanctions.
London also took a similar step.
Later, countries from the so-called „coalition of the willing“ announced their intention to impose additional sanctions aimed at preventing third-party cooperation with the so-called “shadow fleet“, which transported Russian oil.
According to Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, the new US Treasury sanctions against Russian companies Rosneft and Lukoil will not create problems for Russia, which "has developed a strong immunity to such restrictions." However, she added that they send a counterproductive signal, including with regard to the Ukrainian agreement.
