The Kosovo police have launched an investigation into a possible case of abduction of a Kosovo Serb by Serbian authorities in the border area between Kosovo and Serbia near the northern Kosovo town of Leposavic, the Kosovo Radio and Television reported, BTA reported.

According to the Kosovo police, the incident occurred on November 1, with a statement on the case stating that “several masked individuals entered the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, injured and abducted the victim, who was then taken to the city of Niš in the Republic of Serbia“.

“Serbia, which spreads propaganda and disinformation about the rights of Serbs in Kosovo every day, injured and then abducted a Kosovo citizen of Serbian origin. "This is yet another proof of its hegemonic approach, in which every citizen who dares to speak the truth about Vucic's autocratic regime is attacked and tortured in the most barbaric way possible," Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani wrote on social media, commenting on the case. In his post, Osmani also called on the "democratic world" to react and stop these "Serbian attacks aimed at threatening peace and stability in the region."

Kosovo - a former autonomous region of Serbia - declared independence in 2008 - an act that Belgrade does not recognize. Serbia and Kosovo are engaged in a dialogue to normalize their relations with the mediation of the EU. Russia, India and China, as well as five EU countries - Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Slovakia and Spain, also do not recognize Kosovo's independence.
