Great Britain intends to ban companies from providing services such as transport, insurance and other activities that support the export of Russian liquefied natural gas. The measure is part of London's latest attempt to support Ukraine in its war against Russia by limiting revenues flowing into the Russian economy, reports the agency „Reuters“, reports News.bg.

In October, the European Union approved a new package of sanctions, which provides for a complete ban on the import of Russian liquefied natural gas, effective from January 1, 2027. At the same time, Britain and the United States targeted their restrictions on the two largest Russian oil corporations - „Lukoil“ and “Rosneft“.

The British government said on Tuesday that it planned to go further by cutting off Russia's access to international companies offering services related to the export of liquefied natural gas.

“The ban will be phased in from 2026, in coordination with our European partners,“ the British Foreign Office said in a statement ahead of a meeting of G7 foreign ministers in Canada.

The UK also announced $17.5 million to help restore Ukraine's energy sector and provide assistance to citizens most affected by the lack of heating and electricity.
