Poroshenko calls for resignation of Ukrainian government - 1

The leader of the “European Solidarity“ party and former president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has called for the general resignation of the government, describing it as “compromised“ and incapable of governing the country in the conditions of war, corruption scandals and a deepening energy crisis, Interfax-Ukraine reported, reports News.bg.

According to Poroshenko, the discussed replacement of two ministers in parliament is “absolutely insufficient“ and is only a cosmetic move. He stressed that the country needs a complete reboot of the executive branch in order to restore the trust of both Ukrainian society and Western partners.

“The government must resign. This is the minimum necessary to stabilize the situation. The cabinet has lost its capacity to govern and cannot offer solutions that the army and society expect,” Poroshenko said.

The former president called on the Verkhovna Rada to take the initiative, create a new parliamentary coalition and form an expert cabinet based on professionalism, patriotism and responsibility, rather than political loyalty.

The statement comes against the backdrop of investigations into corruption in the energy sector and criticism of the government for its preparations for winter. According to Poroshenko, only a radical change can prevent the deepening of the crisis and strengthen Kiev’s position with international partners.

The Ukrainian government has not yet commented on Poroshenko’s call.
