A magnitude 5.8 earthquake shook the Alaska town Yakutat, Reuters reported, citing the US Geological Survey (USGS).

The epicenter of the quake was at a depth of 5 kilometers.

On Saturday evening, a magnitude 7 earthquake shook a remote area near the border between the US state of Alaska and the Canadian territory of Yukon. The US Geological Survey said the epicenter of the earthquake was about 370 kilometers northwest of Juneau, Alaska, and 250 kilometers west of Whitehorse, Yukon.

The earthquake was about 91 kilometers north of the Alaskan town of Yakutat, which has a population of 662, according to the US Geological Survey.

Two strong earthquakes with a magnitude of 4.6 and 4.5 on the Richter scale struck Turkey one after the other today. This is according to a report on the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), dariknews.bg reported.

The first quake was registered in eastern Turkey, 175 kilometers southwest of Yerevan, Armenia, 37 kilometers north of Van, Turkey, at a depth of 6 kilometers.

The second quake struck central Turkey. It was registered 59 km southeast of Zonguldak, Turkey, 21 km northwest of Gerede, Turkey, at a depth of 10 km.

The first tremor was registered at 22:17 local time (21:17 Bulgarian time), and the second 2 minutes later.
