Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico will not support initiatives to prolong the conflict in Ukraine at the upcoming EU summit. He announced this in a video address to his fellow citizens on Facebook.
“I am preparing and actively discussing with several prime ministers the actions that will be taken at the summit next week in Brussels, where I do not want to support the continuation of the war in Ukraine. We are deciding on a complaint against the European Commission for the suspension of Russian gas supplies“, said Fico.
The prime minister also reported on his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who is visiting Slovakia, on Tuesday in Bratislava. The discussion focused on the development of strategic cooperation between the two countries.
“The topics were clear – gas supplies to Slovakia and strong cooperation in the defense industry“, the Prime Minister noted. Fico welcomed the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
“I also expressed hope that the major Western European countries will stop sabotaging the peace initiative of the American president for Ukraine“, Fico said.
