Russia notes dangerous trends in the accumulation of military potential and a change in the balance of power in the Balkans.
This was stated in an article by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov for the Serbian newspaper “Politika“ on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement.
Lavrov stressed that Pristina's Western supporters have been ignoring the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 1244 for many years, which is fundamental to the Kosovo settlement and guarantees the territorial integrity of Serbia.
“After recognizing the unilaterally declared "Independence" of the region, they continue to encourage Serbophobic lawlessness carried out by the "leadership" of Pristina, including steps to form an illegal "army" of Kosovo Albanians.
“They initiate the creation of military alliances in which Pristina participates on an equal footing with sovereign states. There are dangerous trends towards increasing military potential and shifting the balance of power in the Balkans“, he noted.
“We also see this as a direct violation of the Dayton Agreements, primarily those enshrined in Annexes 1-A “On the Military Aspects of the Peace Agreement“ and 1-B “On Stabilization in the Region“, the Minister emphasized.
