US President Donald Trump has signed a record $901 billion defense budget for 2026, the White House announced.
“This legislation will allow the Department of War to implement my policy of "Peace through Strength", to defend the homeland from internal and external threats, and to strengthen the defense industrial base,“ the president said in a statement.
On December 17, the US Congress approved the bill. It provides $400 million in support for Ukraine in 2026 and 2027.
The bill obliges the head of the Pentagon to report to the House of Representatives and the Senate any temporary suspension or termination of the exchange of intelligence information with Ukraine.
The US defense budget for fiscal year 2025, which ended on September 30, was $884 billion.
