Ukraine and the United States are looking for a compromise on Donbas, Volodymyr Zelensky told reporters.
According to Zelensky, there is still no agreed version of the peace plan. “I think that when we finalize all the documents, we will be able to contact Trump“, UNIAN quoted him as saying.
Zelensky added that the United States is currently “looking for a compromise“ on Donbas. The issue of arming the future Ukrainian army has also not yet been considered, he said.
Earlier, the American newspaper Politico reported that the United States has increased pressure on Kiev to make concessions to end the conflict. In recent weeks, talks on a Ukrainian settlement have been held in Europe, most notably in London and Berlin, involving leaders of leading European countries, including Britain, France and Germany, as well as Zelensky. The meetings discussed a US peace plan aimed at ending hostilities in Ukraine while taking into account Moscow's demands.
Several rounds of talks between US and Ukrainian representatives took place in Berlin on December 14 and 15. The US delegation included Special Presidential Envoy Stephen Witkoff and businessman Jared Kushner. The Ukrainian side was represented by Zelensky, Security Council Secretary Rustem Umerov and Chief of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Andriy Gnatov. It was later announced that the Ukrainian delegation would leave for the United States at the end of the week to continue the talks.
