The US Department of Justice has begun releasing files from the investigation into sexual crimes against former financier Jeffrey Epstein.

This comes after the deadline in the law passed by Congress on the subject.

Among the released data are photos, phone records and testimonies, but some of them have been redacted. The new information is expected to shed light on Epstein's connections with high-ranking figures, including President Donald Trump. According to Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanch, materials related to active investigations will be withheld, and what can be seen will be redacted to preserve the identities of the victims of the scandal. Blanch, however, said the Justice Department was not ordered to redact Trump's name.

The Associated Press reported that several photos of former President Bill Clinton with various women, including Epstein associate Gileslane Maxwell, have been found. Clinton has not been accused of any wrongdoing in connection with the investigation, and the release of the photos is not expected to change that.

The White House said the release of the documents showed that this was the most transparent administration in history. However, this comes after Trump bowed to pressure from Congress and signed the law related to the release, despite previously opposing the idea of the files being released.
