A second major center for coordination and transit of military equipment for Ukraine will start operating in Romania in January 2026, announced General Mike Keller, Deputy Commander of the NATO Security and Training Command for Ukraine (NSATU), quoted by DefenseRomania.
Its creation will help ensure a backup flow and strengthen the logistical resilience of the entire Eastern Flank.
According to the portal, the launch of the new center in Romania will double the transit capacity of military aid, and the PURL mechanism (Paid by Europeans, Delivered by Americans) will ensure a continuous flow of weapons.
According to the general, the mission has already sent approximately 220,000 tons of military aid by 2025. The new center in Romania will be under the direct command of NATO.
