The White House called the negotiations between representatives of Ukraine and Russia, held on January 23-24 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, historic. This was stated by White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt during a briefing, Sky News reported, quoted by FOKUS.
According to her, the meeting did not receive wide publicity, but was of great importance, as the American side managed to gather delegations from both sides of the war to find ways to end the hostilities.
"This was a multilateral meeting that went largely unnoticed by the media, but it is historic because President Donald Trump's team was able to gather representatives of Ukraine and Russia to advance the prospect of peace“, Levitt emphasized.
She added that Donald Trump remains directly involved in the process of settling the war in Ukraine and receives regular reports from his special envoy Steve Witkoff and his advisor Jared Kushner.
