The forecasts were announced a few days after part of the country was hit by a powerful winter storm, causing significant disruption to transport traffic and cutting off electricity in many places. The storm also killed more than 100 people in the country.
About 250,000 customers are still without power in the states of Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana, according to the specialized website "PowerOutage". And some streets in Washington have not yet been cleared of snow.
