Tehran may reach an agreement with the US on the differences over the Iranian nuclear program, regardless of whether the negotiations between the parties are direct or indirect, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said.
„The US approach is important. If this approach is supported by the desire to reach a respectful, fair and honest agreement based on mutual interests, then in my opinion there is a possibility of reaching an agreement both through direct and indirect negotiations“, quoted the minister as saying by SNN.
At the same time, the imposition of new US sanctions against Iran raises doubts about the seriousness of the American side regarding the nuclear negotiations with Tehran, the foreign minister said.
“Washington's continued imposition of a number of sanctions against Iran and certain military actions by the US raise doubts about the seriousness and readiness of the other side (the US – ed. note) for real negotiations“, quoted the minister's official Telegram channel.
The minister's comments came a few days after talks between US and Iranian delegations on the Iranian nuclear program, which took place in Muscat, Oman. The meeting, brokered by Oman, was the first in months of a pause in the negotiation process that arose due to the open phase of the Iran-Israel conflict in June 2025. Up to this point, the Islamic Republic and the United States had held five rounds of consultations.
