In another post on "Truth Social" Trump criticized American skier Hunter Hess, representing the US at the Winter Olympics in northern Italy, days after the athlete expressed "mixed feelings" about representing the country, BTA reported.
"If that's the case, he shouldn't have run for the team and it's a shame he's on it," Trump wrote. "It's very hard to support a guy like him."
Political tensions emerged at the Milan-Cortina Olympics, including over the presence of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials. Protests against the agency have been held in the US after its officers shot and killed two people in Minneapolis last month. At a news conference in Milan on Friday, Hess said it was "a little difficult" to represent the US and that he had mixed emotions.
"Obviously there are a lot of things going on that I don't like, and I think a lot of people feel the same way," he said. "Just because I carry the flag doesn't mean I represent everything that's going on in the US."
