FSB detains third suspect in attempted assassination of GRU deputy chief Vladimir Alekseev - 1

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has arrested a third suspect in connection with the attempted assassination of senior military intelligence officer Vladimir Alekseev last week. The information was disseminated by “Reuters“ and the Russian agency “Interfax“, reports News.bg.

It is recalled that General Vladimir Alekseev, first deputy head of the GRU, was shot in the back by an attacker disguised as a food delivery courier.

After the incident, Russian services announced that a Russian citizen born in Ukraine had been extradited from Dubai to Moscow on suspicion of causing serious bodily harm to the general.

On Monday, the FSB announced that the assassination attempt was organized on behalf of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), and according to Moscow, Polish intelligence assisted in recruiting the perpetrator.

According to Russian authorities, the suspected shooter - a Russian citizen of Ukrainian origin, identified as Lyubomir Korba, was interrogated after his extradition from Dubai. His alleged accomplice Viktor Vasin was also questioned.

The FSB claims that both men have confessed to their crimes and given detailed accounts of the attack, which they say was carried out on the orders of the SBU.

According to the Russian version, Korba was recruited by Ukrainian services in August 2025 in Ternopil, trained in Kiev, and received a monthly salary in cryptocurrency. He was promised a $30,000 reward for killing Alekseev.

The Ukrainian side categorically denied any involvement in the assassination attempt.
