US President Donald Trump said that during his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House today, he insisted that talks with Iran continue, as the US seeks to conclude a nuclear deal with Tehran, the Associated Press reported, quoted by dariknews.bg.
"The meeting was very good, the excellent relationship between our two countries continues", Trump wrote in a post on social networks.
"Nothing concrete was achieved, except that I insisted that the talks with Iran continue to see if a deal can be made,", Trump announced.
Netanyahu's visits and his seventh meeting with Trump within the framework of The Republican president's second term comes as both Tehran and Washington are cautiously optimistic after holding indirect talks in Oman on Friday about how to once again approach negotiations on Iran's nuclear program, the AP notes.
Netanyahu's office said before the meeting that the Israeli prime minister wants those talks to include restrictions on Iran's ballistic missile program and Tehran's support for extremist groups such as "Hamas" and "Hezbollah".
