China calls on Germany to stand united against unilateralism - 1

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called on Beijing and Berlin to strengthen strategic dialogue and jointly fight against unilateralism and bloc-based confrontation in international relations, Xinhua reported, quoted by BTA.

Wang, who is also a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, made the appeal at a meeting with his German counterpart Johann Wadeful on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

China and Germany must firmly follow the spirit and basic principles of the UN Charter, and fight to replace the "law of the jungle" with global governance and work together as a stabilizing factor in a turbulent world, said Beijing's head of diplomacy.

Wan also conveyed similar messages at his meeting with his French counterpart Jean-Noel Barrot. China and France are independent and responsible major countries, so multilateral coordination is an important element of their bilateral relations, the Chinese said. He called on the two countries to work to fill the deficit of global governance and support each other's multilateral initiatives.

According to the Chinese diplomat, China's development is an opportunity for Europe, so they should iron out their differences and deepen their interaction with each other. Wang stressed to his EU colleagues that the challenges facing Europeans do not stem from Beijing.

Wan also met with the Foreign Minister of the third major European power, Britain, Yvette Cooper. He told his colleague that Beijing and London should continue the consensus reached at the recent meeting between the leaders of the two countries with real results, as well as explore opportunities to expand the potential for cooperation.
