Orban: Hungary will not allow itself to be drawn into the war in Ukraine - 1

Hungary will not allow itself to be drawn into the war in Ukraine. It will continue to refrain from sending weapons there. It does not intend to finance Kiev on the orders of Brussels, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said, delivering a keynote speech in Budapest on the political results of the past year and the government's plans for the near future.

He recalled that the European Union has decided to be prepared for a hypothetical war with Russia by 2030 and is currently restructuring its economy for military readiness. Hungary's parliamentary elections, scheduled for April 12, "may be the last elections before the war and the next government will have to decide the question of war and peace," Orbán said.

According to him, "Brussels has decided to defeat the Russians on Ukrainian territory" and military preparations are underway in all EU countries except Hungary and Slovakia. "Nine countries already have compulsory military service, which even applies to women. They are sending instructions to their populations on what to do in the event of war. Military spending is increasing and Britain and France have signed agreements to send troops to Ukraine," the prime minister continued.

The EU has already spent approximately EUR 200 billion on military support for Ukraine and intends to allocate an additional EUR 1.5 trillion. USD over the next 10 years, together with other Western countries, of which 700 billion USD will go to the Ukrainian army.

As Orbán stated, all this is happening “despite the fact that no one knows the answer to the simple question of how to defeat a nuclear power, i.e. Russia, without using nuclear weapons“. Therefore, the head of government stressed, “the actions of Europe and Brussels are extremely irresponsible“.

Orbán also noted that Hungary “knows what war is“ and remembers how 200,000 Hungarian soldiers died on Soviet territory in January 1943. during World War II. “In the Don Bend, Hungarian boys died for foreign goals, for foreign orders, on foreign soil. "Once is enough," the prime minister said.

He assured that as long as Hungary has a government that protects its national interests, it will not be drawn into a military conflict in the neighboring country. "We will not send weapons there, we will not give up our money and we will not allow our young people to be sent to Ukraine. No, no, no," Orban said.
