British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said today that British forces and aircraft will participate in coordinated defense initiatives to protect the interests of the country and allies after US and Israeli strikes on Iran, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
British planes "are in the sky today" over the Middle East as part of defensive operations, Starmer said, quoted by the British newspaper "Telegraph".
The planes were ordered to "protect our people, our interests and our values" after Iran, the US and Israel exchanged missile strikes, the British prime minister added.
In a televised address, Starmer said that Iran must refrain from further strikes and end violence and oppression against its people, and stressed the importance of preventing future escalation and returning to the diplomatic process.
Earlier today, Germany, France and Britain condemned in a joint statement Iranian attacks on "countries in the region", saying that Iran must refrain from "indiscriminate military strikes".
