Cuba Cuts Off Diesel Fuel to Shameless US Embassy Staff in Havana, Their Generators Shut Down - 1

Cuban authorities will not provide the US Embassy with diesel fuel for generators, The Washington Post reported.

According to the publication, the decision was made amid a fuel shortage due to the US energy blockade of the island. Cuban government officials have called the U.S. embassy’s request shameless.

“This week, the government rejected a request by the U.S. embassy in Havana to import diesel fuel for its generators, calling the request shameless given the Trump administration’s fuel blockade of the island,“ the article said.

The refusal to provide fuel for generators could see some U.S. diplomats leave the island in May or even earlier.

A day earlier, Bloomberg reported that the U.S. Treasury Department had added Cuba to a list of countries banned from selling, transporting, and unloading Russian oil and petroleum products. The list also includes Iran, North Korea, and the so-called new Russian regions, including Crimea.

Cuba is experiencing a severe fuel shortage. The country has not received any oil supplies since January 9. The last delivery was made by Mexico, but the supply was subsequently interrupted due to pressure from Washington.
