The Israeli army said on Monday it had carried out two separate strikes on a senior Hezbollah commander and another senior member of the Lebanese Shiite movement in the Beirut area, Reuters reported.
The Israeli forces did not specify whether the two were killed or who they were.
Lebanese state news agency NNA reported that a car was hit in an area south of Beirut, killing two people and wounding three. The NNA also reported a second strike that hit cars in Beirut, killing at least five people and wounding 21.
The Lebanese Health Ministry, quoted by Reuters, said at least seven people were killed and 24 wounded in two Israeli strikes in the Beirut area.
Lebanon was drawn into the war in the Middle East after Hezbollah fired missiles at Israel in solidarity with Iran, two days after Iran was attacked by Israel and the United States. The Hezbollah attack led to a new Israeli ground and air offensive in Lebanon, Reuters noted.
