Donald Trump: Charles would take a different position than Prime Minister Starmer on Iran - 1

US President Donald Trump hinted that King Charles III would seem to support him for the war in Iran, saying that the British monarch would take a “very different position” from that of Prime Minister Keir Starmer, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

The agency notes that the state visit of Charles and Camilla to the US at the end of April was confirmed this week, despite calls for the visit to be postponed or even canceled due to the conflict in the Middle East.

In an interview with Trump for the British newspaper "Telegraph", the American president was asked about the king's visit.

“I like it. I always liked him as a prince. He's a good man, a great representative of your country," Trump said.

"I think he would have taken a very different position (on the Iran war), but he doesn't. I mean, he's a great gentleman," the US president added.

The relationship between Starmer and Trump has been strained over Trump's repeated criticism of allies for refusing to join the war effort.

But the US president told the Telegraph that the king "had nothing to do with it," referring to the rift in US-UK relations over the Iran war.

Trump also said Charles' visit would be a "major event" in a post on his social media account, Truth Social. earlier this week, adding that there would be a “beautiful dinner banquet“ at the White House on the evening of April 28.

“I look forward to spending time with the King, who I respect very much. It will be FANTASTIC!“, Trump added.
