French President Emmanuel Macron and Manfred Weber, head of the European People's Party in the European Parliament, congratulated the opposition party Tisza on its victory in the Hungarian parliamentary elections.
Tisza's leader Peter Magyar announced this in X.
Shortly before that, Magyar announced that Hungarian Prime Minister and leader of the opposition party Fidesz Viktor Orbán had also congratulated his party on the election victory.
With 81.49% of the votes counted, Tisza can count on 137 seats, Viktor Orbán's Fidesz on 55, and “Our Country“ on 7.
"Tisza" has a comfortable two-thirds lead, or a constitutional majority, which requires 133 seats.
