Trump on Iran: Either we make the deal we want or we send them to hell forever. It's not true that we're running out of - 1

US President Donald Trump told supporters in Florida his intention to seek a deal with Iran that satisfies the United States.

“We're doing very well. We're winning“, the American leader said, speaking about the war against Iran.

"If this were a sports fight, it would be stopped. But they just won't agree to the deal that we need. And we're going to make sure it's done right. We will not leave prematurely and have this problem resurface in three years,” he said.

On May 1, the American leader officially notified the US Congress that the White House considered the war with Iran to be over, citing the ceasefire that came into effect on April 7 and was subsequently extended. However, this step was apparently motivated primarily by the need to comply with national laws governing the use of US forces in conflicts abroad.

The executive branch of the US government has the authority to use military forces abroad for periods exceeding 60 days only with legislative authorization, as provided for in the War Powers Act of 1973. Meanwhile, May 1 marked the 60th day of the war with Iran, and the White House did not seek permission from Congress to continue its involvement in the conflict. The U.S. Constitution gives Congress, not the president, the authority to declare war.

The U.S. Department of Defense will continue to update its force structure in the Middle East area of responsibility as necessary and appropriate to counter threats and protect the United States, its allies, and partners.

This is stated in a message from U.S. President Donald Trump to House Speaker Mike Johnson.

„Despite the success of the United States operation against Iran and ongoing efforts to ensure lasting peace, the threat remains significant. Accordingly, the Department of Defense continues to update its force structure in the area of responsibility in individual countries as necessary and appropriate to counter threats and protect the United States, its allies, and partners. These changes are detailed in a classified attachment to this letter,” the message said.

Trump believes Washington has no reason to worry about the Pentagon’s arsenals running low because of the war with Iran.

“No, no,” he said when asked by reporters at the White House whether the depletion of arsenals worried him. “We have stockpiles all over the world and we can use them if necessary. We have huge stockpiles all over the world,” the American leader said.

Trump claims he faces a choice between “ending Iran forever,” “blow it to death,” or making a deal with Tehran.

Reporters asked the president what options the US military had outlined to him on Thursday regarding Iran. “Different options. Do we just want to go in and blow them to hell, finish them off forever? Or do we want to try to make a deal? I mean, those are the options," the American leader replied.

He expressed the opinion that the Iranian leadership is divided, which complicates the negotiation process between Washington and Tehran.

“As you can imagine, they are very divided. Very divided. They do not get along, and it puts us in a bad position“, the president said.

According to him, the Iranian leadership has split “into two or three factions, maybe four“. According to Trump, they all want to reach an agreement with the United States, but they are making conflicting demands. “Some say one thing, some say another“, the president believes. “One group wants a certain deal. Another group wants a certain deal, including the hardliners,“, the American president claims.
