US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said today after the meeting of foreign ministers of NATO countries that more aid is urgently needed for Ukraine, Reuters reported.
The #1 US diplomat added that the message from NATO allies is clear - the vote in the US Congress on aid to Ukraine cannot happen soon enough.
Blinken, speaking to reporters at NATO headquarters in Brussels, said support for Ukraine was particularly important because countries such as China, North Korea and Iran were helping Russia build up its defense industrial base.
The US Secretary of State also called on Israel, as a democratic country, to give the highest importance to human life and to increase the flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza. Blinken stressed that the "horrific attack" this week against aid workers of the "World Central Kitchen" in Gaza should be the last such incident.
"There is no higher priority in Gaza right now than protecting the civilian population, increasing humanitarian aid and ensuring the security of those who deliver it. Israel must fulfill this," Blinken told reporters at a press conference in Brussels.
