Puigdemont left Belgium and settled in French Catalonia - 1

The former regional prime minister of Catalonia and current MEP Carles Puigdemont is leaving Belgium and moving to live in a French town near the Spanish border. He will remain there until the Amnesty Law enters into force, which will allow him to return to Spain, the BNR specified.

According to the Spanish media, he has already vacated his residence in Waterloo, near the Belgian capital Brussels. Puigdemont has lived there for the past seven years since he fled Spanish justice for taking part in the illegal Catalan independence referendum.

For five of them, he was a member of the European Parliament, from where he continues to promote the cause of the independence of the autonomous region. Since Easter, Puigdemont and his family have moved into a house in the north of Catalonia, which is located in France, near the Spanish border.

According to political analysts, this is a symbolic move in the area, which has linguistic and historical ties to the Spanish part of Catalonia, in whose early parliamentary elections as the leader of his party's list - "Together for Catalonia" Puigdemont will participate.

He has already started his election campaign, the details of which he will present at the weekend. His plans are to participate in negotiations to form a regional government after the Amnesty Law comes into effect, which will drop all charges against him. According to him, if his party has a majority, in June he can become the new old Prime Minister of Catalonia.
